Flat Stanley's Final Week in Asia

I titled this week's blog differently because Flat Stanley took a side trip with Gwen to South Korea on a business trip.  He got to check out many more different types of food.  We've loved having our visitor, but he will be heading back to Virginia tomorrow (if Gwen can sneak out of the office to mail him).  I believe he has had a very good trip and there will be an Apple photo book being published and sent to Jacob tomorrow to tell the story of his adventures.

So we took off for South Korea.

So here is Stanley waiting for the train to head to the airport after a taxi ride.

Waiting at our gate.

In our seat and being welcomed aboard by Cathay Pacific.
After a 3 hour and 1 minute flight we wait in the "foreign passport" line to clear immigration.  Pretty sure we should not have taken this picture which is what made it that much better.

Then we waited for a limousine (big cushy bus) to take us to our hotel.
After arriving late I found a burger joint for dinner.  As I was sitting there reading FaceBook I realized it was St. Patrick's Day, so I had to have a beer.  Ironically they put a lemon (instead of a green lime) in the bottle.

Next day was off to work and a few pictures to meet the team.

Welcome to the office Gwen & Stanley

Helen and Gwen with a huge Panda (thinking of Sandra).

Next day's lunch consisted of Kimchi, and Stanley was in the middle of it all.

Dawn, Gwen and Stanley checking out the Kimchi closer.

Dinner with the team at a Japanese Fusion restaurant.

There was a cat theme at this restaurant, so Stanley had to pose with some.

Lunch on Wednesday was Mexican - Gwen really liked this since she had not had Mexican since December.

Wednesday night back at the airport and we saw a "Hello Kitty" EVA Air plane and everyone was taking pictures of it - so Stanley needed his picture taken also.

Back at the office Gwen missed Easter Egg decorating and Gwen was playing with the panoramic feature of her phone.

There will be a week lapse in blogs - no blog next week.  We are seeing more of Asia over the Easter and Qing Ming Festival.  We will be in Bali so Patrick can spend some time on the golf course and Gwen on a beach or by a pool.

Flat Stanley in Hong Kong - Week #3

Flat Stanley is still with us.  He talked Gwen into taking him to Korea with her today.  So after this trip he will be heading back to Virginia.

This week he was trying lots of different foods - Indian & German

After dinner last night we went for a walk on the "Avenue of the Stars".
We wanted to show Stanley how they move dirt in Hong Kong.  They are dredging the Harbor to reclaim more land.

Flat Stanley in Hong Kong - Week #2

So Flat Stanley's second week in Hong Kong was a little slower than his first week - partly because Gwen was sick (upper respiratory yuck).  So Stanley took advantage of this and checked out all the views out the window's of the apartment.

View from the guest bedroom of the harbour toward where the Kai Tak airport was.
View of a hill out of the guest bedroom window - harbour off in the distance.
View from the living room of a soccer field (football over here) and Lion's Rock mountain in the distance.

View of the other apartments in the complex.
Thursday was a team lunch celebrating Angel's birthday and the perfect opportunity for Stanley to experience Dim Sum.

Pork on the left and rolled rice noodles with pork in the center on the right.

Stanley checking out the Singapore Noodles - they were an acceptable level of spicy.

Sesame balls on the left and Fried Tofu on the right.

Cow Stomach.

Steamed Shrimp Dumplings on the left and  Custard Bun on the right.  (We call this "yellow inside bao").

Sophie and Man showing Stanley the Shui Mai (open topped steamed pork dumpling with a shrimp on top) and vegetable dumpling on the right.
Saturday Stanley finally made it to Stanley :)

Bus ride through Hong Kong Island.
Stanley and Gwen checking out the view from the Plaza.

Patrick and Stanley looking at the boats in the water.

Gwen and Stanley with Murray House in the background.

Stanley checking out the map of 'his' area.

View of Repulse Bay on the bus ride home.

Last view from the bus - The Peninsula Hotel.  Stanley likes Ferraris and Rolls Royces..
So we need to have a discussion with Stanley this week on when to book his return ticket to Virginia.
