Year of the Snake

Tomorrow starts the Year of the Snake and this week was full of celebrations.

Tuesday at work my team wrote lots of messages with traditional Chinese pens.
"Full of Youthful Vigor" - Gwen's calligraphy work.

Judd working hard, but was told had poor technique of holding the pen.

Finished products that became our hallway decorations.

Then on Thursday the whole office came together for a paper cutting and paper goldfish making exercise.
The symbol of "Double Happiness" - I gave this one to Patrick.

Gwen's sad goldfish.
On Saturday Gwen was going to meet up with some of the team  and visit a local flower market.  One of the group was ill, so the group trip was cancelled.  I did some research and foung my my local market and took a hike today.  I walked 2.2 kilometers to Fa Hui Park in Mongkok, which to me looked more like a local "fair" without the livestock.  Check out the sights:

Kid posing for picture - so I took one.

Yes - Panda's were here too.

Orchid in the front is US$165 - before negotiations.

One last panda balloon for the road.
It was an experience.  Next year I hope to attend with some locals.  I left empty handed because I could not figure out what anything cost - with that one exception of the orchid  above.  I found out as I was texting my team  - a lot of negotiations occur - which is why I did not see any prices.

We are off to Singapore in the morning.
